Tim Vogel

Tim Vogel M.D. is a board certified pediatric neurosurgeon at North Jersey Brain and Spine Center. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Vogel completed his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He then completed a minimally invasive fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital at Harvard University, followed by a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at St. Louis Children's Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis. He joined Cincinnati Children's Hospital as an assistant professor and was responsible for building one of the country's top-tier pediatric craniofacial teams.

Dr. Vogel specializes in craniofacial surgery and the use of endoscopy in the minimally invasive treatment of children. He utilizes endoscopy and his expertise with minimally invasive surgery to treat hydrocephalus and tumors of the brain. Dr. Vogel also teaches courses each year to train other neurosurgeons in minimally invasive technology. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Vogel is also an international expert on understanding the cause of hydrocephalus, investigating novel genetic studies and imaging techniques. He has published numerous papers in several top science journals, is a sought-after presenter at international medical conventions, and holds several medical patents. Dr. Vogel is a principal investigator and developmental neuroscientist in his lab and has completed postdoctoral fellowships for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Iowa and at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University.

Dr. Vogel is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Society of Craniofacial Surgery, the American Society of Human Genetics, the Ciliopathy Alliance, the Congress of Neurological Surgery, the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery, and the Society for Neuroscience.

As one of the premier pediatric neurosurgeons in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Dr. Vogel leads a busy clinic, practicing at Hackensack University Medical Center. He treats all conditions in pediatric neurosurgery including brain tumors (medulloblastoma, Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma, ganglioglioma, ependymoma), craniosynostosis, craniofacial syndromes, epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, sports related head injuries and concussions, chiari malformations, arachnoid cysts, vascular abnormalities (including moyamoya and arteriovenous malformation), tethered spinal cord, spasticity, and congenital malformations of the brain and spine.
